Tasting Notes
• Bordeaux-Style Blend • Soft Tannins • Smokey • Cherry Cordial
• 89 Rating: Wine Enthusiast "A whiff of violet florals accents ripe black cherry and plum in this luscious silken-touched red. It's fleshy and juicy on the palate but maintains a spry zesty backbone of acidity. Robust yet integrated tannins frame a lingering finish. Enjoy now through 2025." [Tasted on 2/2017] • 89 Rating: BTI "Dusty ruby color. Toasty, fruity aromas and flavors of berry-cherry cobbler, vanilla fudge, roasted pecans, and flower patch with a supple, tangy, dry medium body and a smooth, interesting, carefree pomegranate, pickled nectarine and beet, earth, and nuts finish with well-integrated tannins and light oak. A very nice, dry and savory red for the table." [Tasted 1/11/17] • 87 Rating: Robert Parker "The 2014 Meritage Treleaven is a blend of 41% Merlot and 29% Malbec from Pindar Vineyards, and 30% Cabernet Franc from the winery's estate-grown fruit. It was aged for 18 months in a roughly equal mixture of used French, American and Hungarian oak. A bit lean and rather silky in texture, this is also an easy-drinker with some complexity, hints of beef, slate, herbs and earth. I loved the freshness and texture here, along with the intriguing medley of flavors. This probably lacks the spine and the concentration to have much upside potential with extended aging and I'm not sure it will hold particularly well. For drinking now, however, it is nicely done in its understated fashion. There were 350 cases produced."
