The 2019 Meritage is a beautiful vintage overall. Notable for its late start to harvest, sunny fall that helped push the vines over the finish line, and fruit that combined higher than typical acid levels with ripeness, leaving little room for green character.
Winemakers Notes: 2019 was the start of our dramatically altered program for all of our red wines. This new program involved tank fermentations to help control the temperatures better, pump-overs for gentler extraction, and shorter press cycles to reduce harsh tannins and minimal additions to allow the sites and varieties to shine through. All of which came together with an excellent vintage to result in dark powerful wines that also had excellent aromatics and flavor profiles. This Bordeaux blend is comprised of 38% Cabernet Franc, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot.
