2021 Reserve Riesling
An initial nose of cereal and oats, the 2021 Reserve Riesling showcases grapefruit, peach, and an almost cotton candy or rhubarb sweetness. The finish is satisfying and fine grained. Handpicked from young vines at Sheldrak Point Vineyard, this lot was the finest Riesling we received all year and was set aside given the high quality potential.
Winemaking Notes: Riesling is the grape of possibility. Unlike most of its fellow winemaking grapes, Riesling can be balanced and remarkable at any number of sugar and alcohol levels, and styles as diverse as ice wine and sparkling. Through it all though there is a certain fruit character and acid line that defines the grape in any conditions. Our Riesling vines were one of the first varietals planted in Treleaven Vineyards in 1984 and the age of the vines lend the resulting vintage depth and structure.
Food Pairing Notes: Curry chicken skewers with lime. Slow cooked butter chicken. Chinese chicken lettuce wraps. Pork Loin with Sauerkraut.
