The 2023 Meritage showcases a deep color and makes a bold impression with its lively, ripe plum flavors, accented by notes of tobacco, earth, cherry, and cassis. The finish is robust and serious, highlighted by enduring tannins that indicate excellent aging potential.

Winemakers Notes: 

• Blend: 47.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45.3% Merlot, 7.6 Cabernet Franc
• The wine was aged for 10 months in barrels, allowing it to harmonize naturally before being bottled without cartridge filtration.
• The Merlot in this blend was cultivated by Hermann Wiemer on Seneca Lake, while the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Anthony Road’s Nutt Road Vineyard, and the Cabernet Franc is sourced from our estate vineyard on Cayuga Lake.
• A slow fermentation process at cooler temperatures helped extract maximum flavor and aromatic qualities from the must, resulting in balanced and approachable red wines.
