Tap into Local Craft Beer at Treleaven

In wine there is wisdom. In beer there is freedom. In water there is bacteria. - Benjamin Franklin

Treleaven is now offering local craft beer in addition to its award-winning wines at the winery.

The brewery being represented at the winery is Cortland Beer Company, located in the heart of Downtown Cortland.

“It’s very important to us to support local businesses in this region, and what a better and fun way to do that than by helping promote a local brewery?” Treleaven Marketing Manager, Michelle Kokot said about the menu change.  “We are always telling our customers that we have something for everyone when it comes to our wines, so we thought we should expand that to craft beer."

Treleaven will have four rotating tap handles, with the first batch including Cortland’s Naked Lap, Firehouse Pale Ale, Industrial IPA and Heffer Weizen.  A flight of beer will cost $4, while a 16oz. pint will go for $5.  Treleaven will also have their very own 64oz. growlers available that you can have filled fresh off the tap with any of the four beers to take home.

"Hopefully our customers will enjoy trying the selection from Cortland Beer  Company, along with our wines," added Kokot.

Treleaven, the oldest winery and vineyard on the east side of Cayuga Lake, is open daily, Sunday through Thursday, 10AM-5PM and Friday and Saturday, 10AM-6PM.  It is located at 658 Lake Road in King Ferry, only 25 minutes away from both Ithaca and Auburn.

Check online at www.TreleavenWines.com for more details on the winery, directions and a list of events and bands.

A Walk Through the Vines

It’s early Friday evening and you’re at a loss for ways to start the weekend.  There is either too much going on or nothing at all in the Finger Lakes region.  How to choose?

Well let us eliminate the guesswork.  Treleaven by King Ferry Winery offers something distinctive, in addition to the most important element, an entertaining and informative experience.  Led by vineyard staff member Molly Baillargeon, the King Ferry Vineyards are offering a guided tour through the vineyards and a grape and wine tasting of our award winning wines.

Simply put, it is a truly authentic winery experience.

Our knowledgeable staff guides our guests through an hour-long in-depth winery tour, following the path of the grape in the vineyard to the finished wine—not only do you get a stroll among the vines, but you'll also see how we tend the vines as well as what the different varietals look like.   At the completion of the tour, guests receive an educational tasting of our featured wines with grape of origin with one of our exceptional vineyard staff.  Do all of this while overlooking the breathtaking views of Cayuga Lake in the fall.

"We've been pleasantly surprised at the interest people have taken in our vineyards so early on," Molly said. "We're excited to show people the beautiful place that we work, which is a hidden gem just down the road from the winery. Come see where the Treleaven grapes are grown!"

So if you’ve ever wanted to see what a working vineyard looks like, taste wine grapes or learn about Finger Lakes viticulture, this is the perfect opportunity for you.  Start your weekend off with a stroll through the vineyards, delicious Treleaven wines, scrumptious Keeley’s Cheese and gorgeous scenery.

The next tour will run on Friday, October 17 at 5pm.  To reserve a spot, please call 315.364.5100, email kingferryvineyards@gmail.com or click the link below by Noon on Friday, Oct. 17.

RSVP

So join us this Friday, or like King Ferry Vineyards on Facebook to stay up-to-date with all the latest vineyard happenings.

Happy wine drinking,

2014 Harvest Festival Recap

Another year, another Harvest Festival in the book!  This past weekend was full of delicious food, mouth-watering wine and live music that made you want to lace up those dancing shoes.

Our friends from 96.7 The Vine kicked off Harvest Fest on Saturday with a live broadcast.  Thanks to Mike Brindisi and Elisabeth Rollo for making that happen and promoting our event!  Mike, give us a ring if you need some help getting your newfound occupation as a ‘wine pourer’ off and running.

We hope everyone who attended was able to sample LOTS of wine and eat serious amounts of great food, from BBQ Pulled Pork from our friends at Hatfield Catering, to Texas BBQ Hens and Mac Daddy Cheese from Skillet & Embers Catering Co.  If that wasn’t enough, The Apple Station kindly put together a batch of scrumptious cider donuts while the King Ferry staff whipped up two perfect fall concoctions – mulled Apple Mystique and our famous Cherry Bomb Wine Slushy.

Like I said, the food and drinks were awesome, and I have no doubt people left full and very happy.

Harvest Fest also served as a birthday celebration weekend for one of the most spirited members of the King Ferry family.  Family and friends were able to wish Malvie a very happy 99th birthday with some delicious cake.  It was hard to find a single person without a wide smile plastered to their face after as she thanked us for only putting four candles on her cake!

To wrap up things up, our Wobbly Rock Giveaway came to a close and our winner, Karen Philip, rode away in a brand new bike.  Happy cruising, Karen!

Before I end this brief blog, everyone from Treleaven by King Ferry Winery would like to give a shout out to all those who helped make this weekend a huge success –

Little Joe & the Big Shots and Under Construction for the tunes, Dave Hatfield and Skillet & Embers for the food, the volunteers and staff for making the event run without any glitches and of course, a HUGE thank you to all of our new and returning customers.

We hope to see you again next year!

Happy wine drinking,

Michelle Kokot
